Excerpt from True Obsession:

"Dale," Flora yelled out as she was looking in the window to see if she could see him. No one answered. It was a nice neighborhood so nobody ever locked their doors because everybody knew everybody, and there were no strangers. Flora opened the door and walked through the house tip-toeing, trying to catch Dale asleep, so she could lie down next to him. She walked closer to his room—the door was closed. He must have been asleep, so Flora opened his bedroom door slowly. She couldn’t believe her eyes, Dale was naked asleep with a woman next to him naked also and sleeping on his chest. Flora flipped out and yelled, "What the fuck is going on?" Dale woke up and the woman next to him rose quickly, grabbed her clothes, and ran towards the door where Flora was standing to try and get out of the room. Flora, standing there trembling from being so angry, looked at Dale then to the woman who was trying to leave. Flora grabbed the woman’s arm and screamed in anger, "Bitch, that’s my man and I love him. I will not let anyone, and I mean anyone, take him from me! Do you understand?" Flora still had a tight grip on the woman and Dale jumped up and grabbed his clothes in his nervousness.

"Flora, I was going to tell you," he said as he started walking towards Flora. Flora let go of the woman’s arm and gave her a death stare as the woman ran outside naked, with her clothes in her hand.

Flora then focused on Dale and asked slowly with the look of a murderer, "Tell me what?"

"I just don’t think it’s going to work between us Flora," Dale replied as he was buttoning up his jeans and looking down. All Flora could think about was hurting him. She’d been screwed over again. Dale walked past her to grab a cigarette, and Flora turned around to watch his every move in silence. Her facial expression was frightening. The cigarettes were in the front room so he had to walk away to the living room that was about fifteen feet from Flora. She waited until he was out of sight and then she saw a hammer on the table next to her. She picked it up quickly and held it behind her back. Dale walked back in where Flora was and sat down in the chair. They were in the dining room and Dale kept tools everywhere. "Have a seat, Flora," Dale remarked as he leaned back in his chair, looking down.

"No, Dale, I think I’ll stand for this one," Flora replied as she clutched the hammer behind her back.

"Well, have it you way," he answered calmly as if he didn’t have a heart, not even looking at Flora and trying not to make eye contact.

"I thought you loved me, Dale. I thought we were going to get married."

Dale interrupted and mentioned, "Married? I never brought up anything about marriage to you."

Reviews for True Obsession

Review for: True Obsession by Tempra Collins

A monster lurks in a small, ordinary town in Oklahoma.  A monster in the guise of a beautiful young woman named Flora.

Peeking through the window into Flora’s world, you will find her loving mother, Billie, and her abusive, alcholic father, Thomas and you will think you already know her story.  You’ve read about these things a hundred times before, but things are not as they seem.

Flora’s abnormal behavior pesents itself immediately, when she meets and becomes obsessed with a handsome cop named Kevin Hughes. And as she intrudes into his life, Kevin is about to find out how very dangerous it is to be loved by this psychotic young woman.

I applaud the twists and turns in Tempra’s book and challenge you, the reader, to try and figure out its surprising ending.

The human heart is fragile, even more so when you are a woman. This book is not a love story, by any means. It has more twists and turns than the Daytona speedway. From beginning to end..you won't know what to expect..read it with all the lights on. Bravo Missy !!!
